  • Composting flush toilets are in each cabin.  They are similar to those found in boats or RVs. Please press the water saver button when flushing.  To keep them working well please follow these few steps:

Do not place any paper (including toilet paper) or any other toiletries in the toilet, these items all go into the garbage.

IF YOU NOTICE ANY ISSUES WITH THE TOILET call (914) 309-3904 as soon as possible.

Remember - “No TP in the peepee!”

  • Please recycle plastic #1-7, mixed paper, glass and metal in the labeled recycling barrel just off the deck. It keeps landfills from filling up.  You will also find a large trash barrel just off the deck.  At the end of your stay please empty all trash cans in the cabin (including the bathroom garbage) into the trash barrel.  Please let us know if you need additional bags for trash and recycling.

  • You can use the propane grills at any time.  We supply propane, if you run out of propane, please contact us.

  • Water out of the tap is pure clean drinkable well water.  There is no hot water in the cabins, but hot showers are available in the shower house.

  • Each cabin has a wood stove, please let us know if you want to use it.  We will provide you with wood and safety information.

  • Two private showers and changing rooms are available in the common shower house found on the west side of the field and fire pit area. There is hot water, and they are stocked with biodegradable soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

  • The firepit in the middle of the island is available for your use.  This common area is a great spot to spend the evening reconnecting with loved ones or meeting someone new.  Please let us know if you would like to have a fire and we can get you set up.

  • The wood fired sauna is only available at limited times for an additional cost.  If you are interested in using the sauna, please check with us to see if it is available for use.

    Step 1 – Sauna

    Step 2 – Lake plunge

    Step 3 – Repeat

  • Canoes, standup paddleboards, kayaks, and paddle boats are located at the lodge and are available for your use.  Paddles and lifejackets are located near the boats. When you are finished, please return all items to their original location on the rack next to the lodge.

  • The island is blessed with some of the best swimming available on Lake Pocotopaug. It is important to remember the lake is shallow with numerous large rocks. Please use caution and be aware of hazards in your swimming area. The floating dock at The Lodge is a great spot for good swimmers, please enjoy your swim!

  • Laurel Island is an eco-friendly island. Our power source is the sun, therefore during a sunny day there is plenty of power. During rainy days or at night our power source is limited, and the generator might need to be run. Please be conservative with your use of power.
